Cadet Recruitment
Good Job!!! You have already made the first step in standing out from everyone else just by showing your interest in our unit.
What do you get when you join?
Basic Requirements
Disqualifying Factors
Cadets Application Process
1. Those interested should contact us through email through our contact form.
2. Within one week a staff member will contact the parent of the applicant interested to briefly explain our program and to answer any questions that may come up. Staff will also make an appointment for the parent and applicant to meet with us at our headquarters on board the USS Massachusetts. The parent should carefully review the above basic requirements and disqualifying factors prior to meeting with us.
3. During the meeting the applicant and parent will meet the staff. We will explain in detail how the organization operates, fees associated, and staff expectations. An application packet will be given to you to fill out. The applicant will then be placed with current Cadets and Staff in order to see if it is something they want to do.
The applicant will not participate but will have an opportunity to ask current Cadets and Staff questions. While the applicant is doing this, the parent will be asked to fill out the application to speed up the process or they may take it home to review and return it during the next meeting. During the meeting a parent or legal guardian will need to be present or the applicant will not be allowed to stay.
4. The applicant will not be allowed to return until they have the application complete to include a parents signature. Once the application is signed and turned in they offically become a Cadet. The applicant may return without a parent as long as the application was signed and complete the week of the meeting or if they have the application signed and complete in hand when they return. The Cadet will not be able to participate in physical activities until the medical portion of the application is filled out and signed by a physician. Recent physicals may be used if completed within the past year and a complete copy turned in with medical forms. All other documents requested MUST be turned in within a REASONABLE time.
Once all medical documentation has been turned in the Cadet will be asked to take a Physical Fitness Test (PFT). This physical test will be used to determine the Cadets physical capabilities. The PFT consist of the following.
-Push-Ups (as many as the applicant can in 1 minute).
-Sit-ups (as many as the applicant can in 1 minute).
-1.5 Mile Run (to be completed as quickly as YOU can)
The run time, number of push-ups and number of sit-ups will be recorded. The applicant is highly encouraged to try their best.
